Father's Day

So today is one of those special holidays that comes once a year: it's Father's Day! All of us children that are old enough [grin] can truly say that we're SO blessed to have a Dad like ours is!!! Since this is all we've ever known we can sometimes take for granted how blessed we are! But, lately, more then ever before, I've been reminded of how special our Dad really is....

He proves to all of us by the way he talks AND most effectively, by the way he lives that he wants to serve Jesus Christ above all else, and prioritizes his life in that way!!! Unlike so many he is giving up the "American dream" to follow God's leading...and he ISN'T complaining about it! "For I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me." (Galatians 2:20)

Ever heard of the word "patient"? That's definitely one great word to describe our Dad with! He is SO patient with us as he teaches and trains and we are slow learners and make so many mistakes.

Something else about our Dad is that he will take on things that many others wouldn't because they haven't "been trained how to do them". For instance, building a house! He had no background whatsoever in any form of construction, yet he took it on! And in the process, he taught all of us alot, and not just about house construction....but about the proper attitude to have when you're doing an uneasy task!

We all love the times when we have fun playing together too!

He is excited about the "little" things that the younger ones give and do for him, which I know makes them feel so special.

This year, far more then ever before, we've admired our Dad's long suffering and humble spirit with other people. We've seen this spirit in action over and over as he's dealt with difficult situations...spending hours listening and counselling in various circumstances.

And not for a moment have we ever wondered if our Dad loves our Mom...he doesn't even have to tell her "I love you" in front of us...because he says it all the time by his actions!

He is very faithful in teaching God's word to us on a daily basis! He's investing so many hours of his time explaining verse by verse the Bible to us. He studies what the Bible says, and tells us why he believes what he does. Family devotions lately have been so practical to our everyday lives as we've just finished 1st Timothy, and Dad has explained and taught us so many things the Bible teaches for our daily life! He does "delight in the law of the Lord..." (Psalm 1:2)

These are just a few things we appreciate about our Dad! He is such a great example and leader to us. We're so thankful for him....

Happy Father's Day!

"When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul; That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous."
-Proverbs 2:10 & 20

"And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers."
-Malachi 4:6a
