As I mentioned in a post two weeks ago we went on a family vacation to Virginia and West Virginia. We had such a great time together and are so thankful for that oppurtunity! Due to the busyness of life, I had saved posts with pictures in Drafts nearly two weeks ago and still haven’t gotten around to finishing them!
So, for those of you who’ve been waiting…..
Here is Virginia Memories, part 1! [smile]
Alanna was absolutely thrilled about going to Virginia. Prior to leaving, she constantly asked about how many more days it was until we left, and got out clothes she wanted to pack…[yes, such a girl!] She does a great job traveling.
We stopped at a rest area near the North Carolina border for lunch and there was even a pond!
Lookin’ cute… [smile]
We got to where we were staying about 9:30 Thursday night. The next day we stayed around the house for a good part of it. The tree in the front yard was perfect for climbing!
There were even trails in the backyard of the house. We enjoyed hiking on them! it was so convenient have them right there too.
The fall colors make such pretty picture backgrounds!
One day Ellen and Anna were on the trail and saw a bear! After that most of us were a little nerved about going back there again, especially at night!
On Saturday we went on the northern 35 miles of the Skyline Drive. When we first left in the morning, it was cloudy.
As the day went on the sun became to peek out and by late afternoon it was shining brightly enough to get out and not freeze! [for us unprepared Floridians!]
Andrew and Alanna especially liked the tunnels through the mountains and got such a kick out of Dad honking the horn as we went through.
Alanna loves Daddy!
In the late afternoon, we hiked a few miles on a trail with a creek running beside it. After the first half mile or so it became much steeper downhill which, of course, meant the way back was uphill. After the hike, we planned to head home, but ended up stopping somewhere else….
…which I plan to post about next. I make no promises of it coming out soon though! [smile] For now, I hope y’all enjoyed this first installment!
"Rejoice in the Lord always,
and again I say:
