When reflecting on 2011, I am again reminded that I have "So Much to be Thankful for".
God has truly blessed my family and I in countless ways, and it's been amazing to see the different ways He has directed and worked in our lives in 2011. It's been fun going through blog archives as a way to recall some of the events that have transpired in our lives...reliving different special moments! And thanking God for them...
One big thing this year that never made it to blog posts involved Dad and his former job. In April, Dad felt God directing him to move on to much more full time ministry, which certianly didn't include the company he'd worked for the past 11 years, in the which his job has been overwhelming the past few years.
Only a month later, Dad was informed the company was going to close down due to "budget cuts". That was in May. After finding out he was going to lose his job, Dad talked with all of us about the situation and shared some verses with us he wanted us to think about, especially in the next few months:
"Be careful for nothing but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."
The financial year was over for the company by July, Dad's work for them was finished. We're so thankful for how God has faithfully provided for us through Dad's labors for them for eleven years. But the Lord provided and Dad worked for the company that took over [from home!!!] for over four months after that. And what happened next?! God kept supplying all our needs and Dad has been working for different men we know that own small businesses, helping them with their finances. Now, his work has becomes less than full time [just as we had prayed!] and he's becoming much more involved in ministry with Faith Baptist.
It has been incredible to see how God has worked in our lives this past year, giving us the grace to be "anxious for nothing" and with thanksgiving let our requests be made known unto Him. The peace of God that passeth all understanding has kept our hearts through Christ Jesus!
We're all excited to see the different ways God provides for Dad and our entire family to minister to others and very grateful to Him for all He's done in our lives this past year!
"Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David."
